Counselling psychologist and senior mental health professional with extensive experience in community-based mental health, research, and psychosocial support systems.

Md. Reza A. Rabby is a counselling psychologist, researcher, and senior mental health practitioner with a strong commitment to community-based mental health systems in Bangladesh and beyond. He earned his M.S. in Counselling Psychology from the University of Dhaka, where he secured Second Merit Position. His academic work has consistently focused on understanding depression, anxiety, stress, coping strategies, and barriers to mental health service utilization in Bangladesh. He is currently serving as Senior Psychologist in the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) team at BRAC Institute of Educational Development, BRAC University. In this capacity, he leads and supervises the implementation of participatory mental health programs across Bangladesh, Uganda, Tanzania, and South Sudan. His responsibilities include supervising para-counsellors, developing training manuals, facilitating psychosocial support trainings, conducting psychological first aid sessions, and providing individual and group counseling. Reza has significant experience in emergency mental health response, including tele-counseling during the COVID-19 pandemic and providing psychosocial support during natural disasters and geopolitical crises. He has also worked in clinical settings such as the Student Guidance and Counselling Center at the University of Dhaka, Moner Bondhu, and the Department of Psychiatry at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He is an active researcher with multiple peer-reviewed publications in national and international journals. His research spans university student mental health, refugee well-being, anxiety and depression validation studies, social interaction anxiety, climate change and mental health, and marginalized communities. He has presented at international conferences in Bangladesh, India, and the Maldives, and has delivered invited talks on trauma, communication, disability inclusion, and mental health advocacy. As a Master Trainer of Psychological First Aid (School Mental Health) under the Government of Bangladesh, he plays a key role in building capacity among educators and community stakeholders. At Nirban, he contributes clinical expertise, research leadership, and systems-level mental health development experience.

Md. Reza A. Rabby earned his B.S. in Psychology and M.S. in Counselling Psychology from the University of Dhaka. He currently serves as Senior Psychologist at BRAC Institute of Educational Development, leading Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) initiatives across multiple countries.
